With people increasingly accessing the internet via their tablets, shopping behavior is changing as well. According to a survey related to the online retail market in the UK, mobile commerce grew by 254% between 2010 and 2011, and by a further 300% between 2011 and 2012. 69 percent of tablet owners make purchases on their device every month! But does this mean that in-store shopping is dying?

Lenovo aims to increase its store presence in Asia.

In a time when more and more retailers are focusing on online and mobile platforms to increase turnover, many retailers are beginning to refocus effort into building better brick and mortar locations that enhance experience. This is what Lenovo is set on accomplishing over the next few years in Asia.

Lenovo currently has some own-brand stores throughout Asia, but plans to greatly increase the number to about 1,000 throughout the region.

An online store may be essential for retailers in China.

Coach has been a rising star in the Chinese market. For the first half of this year, the affordable luxury brand has become the third best-selling brand with reported annual growth of 60%. The company has recently launched an online store on its Chinese website.

“The launch of our official online store is a major milestone in Coach’s history, underlining our confidence and unswerving commitment to this growing market,” said Jonathan Seliger, president and chief executive officer of Coach China. Coach expects the site will be more engaging with local consumers, and provide better brand image control and messaging.

Online retail apparel stores fueling growth in China.
